Abstract paintings inspired by the Homie Erotic series of works.
In my abstract work, my main tool is photography. Initially, I would source the photography from Google image search; looking for the necessary shapes and textures to create the image I was seeking. I never saw the point of taking my own photos since there was so much already produced and much better than I could make. While Google image search has been an indispensable tool, it nows feels too removed for me.
With the Thermal Plate series, I’ve decided to produce the photographic material myself, creating my own marks and images with the aid of a scanner. The works are an exercise in style and eschew any type of academic research. Why I find the images pleasing or why I focus on creating elegant compositions is not yet clear to me. What interests me is expanding my form image making.
